This book is critical of many, many things. How does society--the masses, the general population--fare in the book's assessment of it? Cite specifics to support your ideas.
Well it begins to say the when the general public began jaunting that many companys pre public jaunt went under because with the new ability also came the alck of need for those company so I wouldnt be surprised if there was alot of economic problems with this new stage.

I think the book says that some people are better than other people. Like when the Presteign of Presteign says that you have to call him Presteign instead of Mr. Presteign. Also with him, how he doesn't jaunt as much because he is to good for it and everyone else does it.-Kyle Waite
The general population seems to be the lazy and gutter tongued. In the beginning of the novel, Gully is called a Stereotype Common Man. As the book goes on, you see more and more people speaking in gutter tongue. "Blue Jauntes. Every sometime a guy gets fed up with old Jeffrey. Can't take it no more, him. Jauntes into the wild blue yonder." pg. 72. Most people are basically below average.
-Jess Filegar
Most people in this book work for the government or some jaunting job or community in the inner planets. We have been introduced to many gutter talkes. but in the case of Jiz she grew up in a decent social class and chose to go bad. This shows me that many grow up in good social classes and for one reason or another changed. - Alexander Hall
Response: i agree with Alex that some people don't like the gender issue with the whole jaunting thing, like Jiz. But then others that are already rich have the power to jaunte anywhere and anytime they like and I don't think that is equal to everyone. -Catherine Averill
I think the sociaty in the book is the same as it is now. Since there is the difference between rich and poor just like now. Also there are like noticed eduacadet and not educated people, what is weird since ud think there would be enough time to teach everyone by know if youre able to go to different planets! What if also noticed was that, the inner planets are comparable to europe and the U.S.. Because all the stuff gets delivered there for more production because the inner planets are the richtest. Right now its the same thing, africa and south america are poorer continents that suply the rich countrys with material but dont get allot of benefit of it. The only difference is the outer planets in the book wont take it no more and begin a war. Andreas Natoli
